Construction of Masculinity as Provider and Protector, and its Connection to Mental Health in Pakistani Men

Description

My research in DR 1 (7th semester) was based on of investigating what kind of familial and societal roles are expected of men from their childhood and throughout adulthood, and what kind of mental ramifications are involved with these expectations (namely anxiety, depression, and stress). Through my research, I found that most men experience these mental ramifications and feel pressured by these expectations. For my project, I made a documentary film centered on masculinity from men's perspective. My reason for choosing this topic is because most of the studies done on masculinity are investigated from a feminist lens, which often leads to undermining or diminishing men's issues and hurdles.
